THOUGHTS OF A POET IN THE RAIN

Went to a meeting last night to learn about brain injuries. I entered Town Hall, where the meeting was to be held, and found a congested room as two other meetings were also taking place. Believing I was in the right  room I signed in, gave my email address for future contacts, took a name badge and stuck same on my shirt. The room was small and crowded and they had to bring in more chairs and I found one at the back of the room. The woman in charge started speaking about upcoming elections to the board???? and rallies ???? and protests???? and past elections????? made the sign of the cross when she mentioned one  Republican President….what????…and then intro’d the speaker…blah, blah, blah, worked with Eisenhower Admin for 8 years…blah,blah,blah…numerous books about economics????….(I thought this was about traumatic brain injuries…economics???….well, might be an interesting spin) and blah, blah, blah…..not one mention of medical issues.  Slowly I leaned over to my neighbor and said, “Is this a CERT meeting?” He looked at me oddly and said, “No, this is a Democratic Party Membership Meeting.”  Okay. Okay. SO, if you know me you would know I am a Reagan Conservative Republican. I politely excused myself, and went down the hall to the proper meeting. But now I’m on their email list……holy crap!
