THEY SERVED UP LEMONS AT MY REQUEST

They served up lemons at my request
And I did my very, very best
To not frown or allow my face to revolt
As the juice ran down my throat
They sliced and diced and laid them out
For me to see and expected me to breakout
With my eyes squinting in error of my ways
But not I, I held the glass to the light to raise
And drank it down in a gulp
Even swallowed the bitter pulp.
They served up lemons at my request
And they did their very, very best
To freak me out and make me sad
But my soul was hardened and amour clad
They served up lemons at my request
And they did their very, very best
And as they went their ways dismissed
They never saw the tears they missed.
